    I'm an asshat and haven't gotten to listen to the show yet. Fortunately, it's on the iPod, so I'll be listening to it in the car on the way to Seattle.

    In this episode you mentioned that you used a solitaire game and an egg timer to create stress for the player to pick a lock.

    Hey Cheinzmann, the game I used was called Phoenix. It's actually a two player game, but works as a solitaire game if you add a timer. In that game you have a number of different colored pawns that you are trying to get into a specific (color) order based on some randomly placed colored blocks. You move the pawns backward and forward in a line based on cards you play. I based the number of pawns they had to line up on how successful their 'security' (in this case is was an electronic lock) skill roll was so that it still tied to their character sheet.

    I wanted to give a similar feel to 'hacking' a security system in the Bioshock video game (if you've had a chance to check that out)...and almost went with the Waterworks card game instead but it seemed too steampunky for Firefly.

    Justin,
    Thanks for the reply. I found a tanagram set with 60 puzzles with it at the house and bought a timer that 'ticks'
    depending on the lock / task I can just add time and # of puzzles that need to be solved. Thanks I will look at Phoenix.

    Tanagrams! That's a good idea too. Bonus points if you can make a tanagram that looks like the bomb you are diffusing or the lock you are picking. You might also want to check out a board game called Ubongo that uses tetris like tanagram puzzles that all players are trying to finish before the sand timer runs out.

    So far I have listened to the first 4 episodes, good stuff. I may be the only person who has never listened to an RPG podcast before who is listening to yours - but you mention that several times in the episdoes I have listened to, and thought you'd like to know that there are *some* folks out there for whom Narrative Control is there first RPG podcast.
