Hey guys, love your show; perfect length to listen to on a bicycle ride around town. I just have one problem though; I subscribed to the RSS feed through my Zune player, and got all the episodes downloaded and saved(which isn't a big deal with a 120GB MP3 player), but I came back later and I have a second copy of each episode, whether I played it or not. Is there a problem with the RSS feed or am I just slow? I mean, I even went into the podcast folder and deleted all the clone episodes that had (1) at the end of the name. So yeah, any help would be appreciated. =)
I just moved registrars and the DNS forwarding on the new registrar is a
working a little different (notice the URL is now showing up as narrativecontol.libsyn.com). I'm not sure if that would affect the RSS feed but it wouldn't surprise me if that's what's going on. I'll work on cleaning it up. Sorry for the inconvenience though. Double episodes are a pain.
Now we're up to triple episodes. Has there been another DNS change?
Oh wow, sorry Dragon Master. No DNS that I know of (unless it's something in the bowels of Dreamhost or Libsyn) but Libsyn did just upgrade their entire site (including the hosting) which might have done it. I'll put in a support ticket with them.
Anyone else getting double (or triple) downloads?
Here's the response from Phil at Libsyn:
Hello
I'm sorry for the frustration. Are these duplicates displaying in your Podcast Library after subscribing to the feed?
There is a chance that iTunes interpreted some of the changes from the episodes between the old and new system to warrant redownloading the episodes.
If you listeners deleted their downloads, removed your podcast from their Library, then resubscribed, they should only see one version of the episode.
I'm only seeing single listings when I view your feed in iTunes.
Please let us know if you have any further questions.
Thanks
Phil
So... this is the typical "looks good from my side" response. Sorry for the duplicate download folks, if you've got the time to redownload you can kill the subscription and start it over again (as Phil suggests) or just can the duplicates. Either way, it's a bummer that Itunes is so picky with feeds. Sorry bout that.
Sean
I checked out the feed links you provided and here's the deal.....These RSS feeds are not for podcasts...they are for blogs. You can only subscribe to Podcasts through the Zune software.
If you want to subscribe to a blog's feed, you'll need to use a feed reader application. I'm using YomoMedia on my windows phone 7 and it works great - it also lets me download podcasts when I'm not near my computer to sync from the Zune software. There is no feed reader application that can be used with a Zune device.
Some blogs include podcasts from time to time (like the windows phone blog). To subscribe to the podcast-only portion of that blog through the Zune software requires using a different RSS feed.
It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
